SAVE THE DATE - FAREWELL, MR. & MRS. WALKER!
Let's send the Walkers off with love and appreciation for the past 8 years of service to Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Childcare. We’ll begin collecting notes/cards of appreciation in our black care boxes at both campuses this Sunday. Please also join us on Sunday, June 7th for a cake reception following the 9:30 a.m. service in Germantown. Mr. Walker will begin his new role in July as the Director of Staff Ministry at Martin Luther College in July. God's Blessings, Mr. & Mrs. Walker!

A HUGE BLAZER DASH THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Blazer Dash. It was a huge success. We had 300 registrants overall and raised nearly $14,000. An update regarding Soles for Jesus will also be given in the next week or two. We greatly appreciate the generous donations. A huge thank you to all of the countless volunteers and all of the support from the church, school, and childcare. This event could not be possible without all of your time and service. A big shout out also goes to the Germantown Public Library for the Enchanted Library and the Germantown Fire Department for their involvement as well. We look forward to seeing you again in 2028!

BLAZER DASH - SOLES FOR JESUS
Thank you to everyone who donated shoes for Soles for Jesus. A total of 325 pairs of shoes were dropped off this week. Soles For Jesus exists to share the love of Christ by distributing shoes to the underserved in sub-Saharan Africa. We appreciate everyone who supported this mission, and thank you for your generosity!

CHURCH OFFICE SUMMER HOURS – Please be aware that with the end of the BLS school year, the church office hours will also be changing. The summer office hours of Mon – Thurs, 8am -2 pm will begin in June.

BLOOD DRIVE –Bethlehem's Parish Nursing Team is excited to announce plans for this year's Bethlehem Blood Drive. JOIN OUR TEAM – Bethlehem is seeking applicants for a new part-time paid position: Digital Marketing & Communications Coordinator (approximately 10 hours/week). This role will help support our ministries through website updates, social media management, digital communication, and online outreach. WELS WOMEN’S EVENT – Women, you are invited to the Get Moving Women’s Event August 14-15th at Grace Lutheran Downtown MKE. If you’ve struggled to step out of the shame, hurt or grief of the past or are overwhelmed by the obstacles you’re currently facing, these two days are designed to give you the tools to get moving into God’s purpose for your life. Amber Albee Swenson will teach four sessions: Who You Are is Not Who You Need to Be, Moving On is Biblical, Deal with the Feels, and Be Brave. Worship will be led by Emily Krill and friends. FAMILY BIBLE HOUR - Throughout this school year, our Family Bible Hour adult Bible study has revolved around the theme "Be the Church." The church is not the beautiful buildings we have at each campus. We - the people of God - are the church. This is our final series of the year entitled "The Church in Action." For four weeks, Bethlehem pastors will lead us through a study of important New Testament passages emphasizing especially important aspects of what it means to "Be the Church." This week, we'll be looking at Acts 4:23-37 discussing how "The Church Cares for One Other." Please join us!

RETIREMENT CELEBRATION – Please join us for the Retirement Celebration of Mr. Daryl Weber and Mrs. Beth Rippel on Sunday, May 17th at the Germantown campus. Following the worship service at 9:30 a.m., a luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall.
Starting May 1st, cards of appreciation for these two faithful staff members may be dropped off in the specially marked boxes at both campus locations.

The Voters called MR. THOMAS AND MRS. ELIZABETH PLITZUWEIT to serve as our BLS Principal and our ECM Director. Both of them currently serve at St. Matthews in Oconomowoc.
May the Spirit work in all of these called workers, guiding them to a decision which brings glory to our Savior and joy to their ministries.

BLAZER DASH UPDATES – Online Blazer Dash Registration Closing as of Tuesday, May 12thThe Blazer Dash is soon approaching on Saturday, May 16th. Online registration will be open through Monday, May 11th (www.theblazerdash.com). After that point, registration can still be done in person the morning of the race and the day prior during packet pick-up.
Packet pick-up is available on Friday, May 15th from 3PM - 6PM or on race day, Saturday, May 16th, from 7:15AM - 7:45AM (Germantown Campus). The 5K run and 2 mile walk will be starting at 8:00AM, and the Kids' Dash will be starting at 9:00AM. Childcare is also available during the race if needed (pre registration is encouraged).

We are still in need of course volunteers for all events and parking attendants. We are also collecting new and gently used shoes supporting Soles for Jesus up until race day! LWMS Spring Rally Report: On April 25th, 84 ladies gathered for the LWMS Milwaukee Metro North Circuit Spring Rally at Garden Homes Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The business meeting included new individuals elected for Secretary & Spiritual Growth positions on the circuit board. Mission projects selected for this year are Home Mission: Children and Family Ministry Outreach & World Mission: Portugal. Pastor Philip Hunter presented on community outreach efforts at his church near Tampa, FL. Reminder that registration is now open for the LWMS Convention held in Madison, June 25-28 - visit 63.lwms.org for more details. KML Travelling Choir is Coming to Bethlehem!

Fall Bible Studies Beginning this Sunday

Bring your lawn chair and come enjoy a casual setting of worship! Our regular 9:15 AM worship service will be held outdoors, with a grand picnic to follow. Our fellowship committee has also been hard at work to ensure that the afternoon is an entertaining and enjoyable day that you won't want to miss!

FELLOWSHIP AND FUN FOR ALL - The church picnic is only one week away - with several treats in store! Included in the fun will be a Teen/Adult exclusive Bean Bag tournament, a Frisbee Golf course, and a mind bending Bethlehem trivia game! To help run events smoothly, we are asking that those interested in participating in the Bean bag tournament pre-register by signing up at bit.ly/BLCcorn21. This form will allow you to sign up your pre-selected teams of two, or be randomly assigned by the committee. The format will be Round Robin followed by a single elimination tournament, which will all be administered and viewable at https://challonge.com/BethlehemCornhole2021 (Same day sign ups will also be allowed.)

BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN OPENS WITH RECORD ENROLLMENT!

With a theme of "God is Awesome," we are off and running into the 2021-22 school year with a record-setting 270 students in Gr. K-8. And thanks to teachers and students, our first week went super smoothly! Another 120 preschoolers will be joining us next week. We are so thankful for the opportunity to offer an excellent, distinctly Christian education to each of the 390 children entrusted to our care. So many blessings. We are thankful in advance for teachers, students, and parents all working together to make this an "awesome" year.

MORNINGS WITH MOMMY – Mornings with Mommy isn't preschool, and it isn't childcare, it's something different! We will meet monthly, starting on September 10th, from 9:00 - 10:15 am at the Germantown campus. The cost of the program is $5 per family (not per child). This fee helps to cover the cost of crafts, supplies, and snack. The casual setting of this group makes it an ideal event to invite your neighbors to join us. Since the sessions are limited to 20 children, we encourage you to register early at bit.ly/MWM921 to hold your spot.

Recently, we had two fantastic visits. The first was from our very own Martha Johnson, presenting "Music with Martha" and the second was a program by a Mad Scientist from 2 Inspire.

New changes to our website! In order to reach visitors and connect with current members in an efficient way, we’ve set up two separate Bethlehem websites to tailor to those two different groups.

bethlehem-wels.org will be our “outward facing” site tailored towards the community and visitors who would like basic information about our church, school, and child care. This site is geared towards evangelism as people who are unfamiliar with our ministry have a place to see what we’re about without getting bogged down by the details.

connections.bethlehem-wels.org will be our “inward facing” site tailored towards members as well as school and childcare parents. Here you will find more specific information on the church, school, and childcare that is relevant to those who are more deeply connected to our ministry. We ask that members of Bethlehem bookmark this site on their browser and keep this as their primary Bethlehem site.

We understand that this is new and will take some getting used to, but we are excited about the fresh look and more efficient way to connect with Bethlehem. If you have any questions, please feel free to email the church office at churchoffice@bethlehem-wels.org.

LWMS Spring Rally

Lutheran Women's Missionary Society is holding its spring rally April 24, 2021 at David's Star Lutheran Church in Jackson. The rally will be in-person and streamed; however, no breakfast or refreshments will be served. There will be a number of topics:

Pastor Paul Prange will talk about Vietnam.

Befriend a Mission (BAM) is focusing on Pastor Dan Heiderich at Good News in Levi, Utah. He and his family have been in Levi for four years after starting a new church. Attendance is now 25-30 each Sunday in an area that is 90% Latter Day Saings (formerly referred to as Mormon.)

Pastor John Hartman and his family have been in Africa for 27 years. One Africa Team-Zambia planned to have more in-person training in Liberia and Uganda, but the pandemic changed that to online training.

Central Africa Medical Mission (CAMM) is celebrating 60 years of service to the people of Africa. Please pray and support WELS missions.

Lent services are held Wednesdays at 3pm and 6pm at the Menomonee Falls campus starting February 17th. Our 6pm service will also be livestreamed. May God bless your Lenten worship!

Do you work in downtown Milwaukee? Grace Church is offering midweek Lent services at 1209 N. Broadway, Milwaukee. Two service times are available. There's a shorter service at 12:10pm (perfect over the lunch hour) as well as 6:30pm.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions in the city of Milwaukee, face masks are required for attendees ages 5 and up. There is also a maximum capacity of 125 guests. Questions: please email Carolyn Schulz at data@gracedowntown.org or call 414-271-3006 between 9am and 3pm Monday through Friday.
